Razor

I finally convinced Beno to take on the benefits of composite materials, so he decided to start making the "Fix", a modified "Fox" with his sleek new molded fuse, which is definitely "Pointy Nose Fetish" (PNF) material.  I saw his finished fuse one afternoon, and mentioned to him that it would make a great flying wing fuse.  And the inspiration for the Razor was born.

After doing his research into which airfoil was up to the task (DSing), Beno finally designed a scaled down Electron planform with the airfoil being the sensational new Peter Wick PW51 airfoil.  The wing certainly complimented his sexy PNF fuse.

The most unsual thing about the Razor is the "upside-down" hinges......the live hinge is in the bottom skin of the wing.  According to Peter Wicks, this is more efficient for this airfoil as the hinge-gap (on top) is in an area where the airflow already delaminates slightly from the surface of the wing.  This effectively reduces drag.

So far the Razor has not disappointed us.....its turning ability is absolutely awesome, not to mention that the 700-800 gram flying weight allows it to fly in wind anywhere between 10 and 40 knots with ease!! The energy retention is so incredibly good, its quite difficult to slow the little sucker down!!  Of course.... I had to make my own.

Thanks to Beno and his mold, the Razor MkII was born.  Very similar to the original Razor, but with 12mm more nose, about 5mm less rake in the wing and 30mm less wingspan, a fast little missile it is.  In fact, its done 143mph DSing!
